"Works for Me"

Think Differently campaign has partnered with the Employers’ Disability Network (EDN) and Attitude Pictures to produce a DVD for employers – “Works for Me”.

"Works for Me" is a valuable resource for employers, chambers of commerce and employment groups. Smart employers who recognise people with disabilities can offer unique talents and by employing someone with a disability can have a positive impact on the culture of their business.  The DVD includes interviews of employers and employees from a different range of occupations.

A message from our patron Sir Roderick Deane

Dr Roderick DeanePeople with disabilities, like all of us, want to build on their talents and live full lives in the community. To do this, they need jobs.

The Employers' Disability Network is a group of employers dedicated to ensuring that people with disabilities get the same opportunities in life as the rest of us and, in particular, have access to jobs and work.

The Network aims to help employers understand ways in which jobs can be created for people with disabilities and to encourage welcoming and accepting attitudes to those with disabilities.

The Network believes that disability is simply part of the diversity of our society and that people with disabilities should not be disadvantaged in seeking work but rather be positively encouraged to do so. For this to happen, employers must have a welcoming and inclusive culture.

The Network aims to encourage and foster this sort of positive attitude and make it work in practice throughout New Zealand.
